1. What this disclaimer covers
This disclaimer applies to everything published on dollarvisor.com: every guide, comparison, ranking, rate table, state page, calculator, and FAQ across our insurance, credit cards, loans, and investing sections. It works together with our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Advertising Disclosure. By using the site, you accept the limits described on this page.
2. Not financial, investment, or tax advice
DollarVisor publishes general educational content about personal finance. Nothing on this site is financial advice, investment advice, or tax advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any specific financial product or security for your personal situation.
We are not registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, certified financial planners, or CPAs, and we are not acting as a fiduciary for you. Reading our content, emailing us, or using our calculators does not create an advisor-client relationship of any kind. When our guides say “our pick” or “best for,” that verdict comes from the published criteria on our methodology page. It is editorial analysis of the market as a whole, not a judgment about what fits your finances. For decisions that depend on your specific circumstances, talk to a licensed professional who can review your full picture.
3. Not insurance or legal advice
DollarVisor is not an insurance company, insurance agency, or insurance broker. We do not sell, solicit, or negotiate insurance, we do not issue policies or quotes, and we receive no commission from any insurer. Our insurance guides explain how coverage works and what filed rates look like in each state. Only a licensed agent or the insurer itself can tell you what you will actually pay and what a policy will actually cover. Policy language controls: if anything we write about a coverage type differs from the terms of a policy you are considering, the policy wins.
One member of our editorial team holds an active Texas insurance license, which informs how we review insurance content. That credential does not make DollarVisor your agent, and it does not turn any page on this site into individualized insurance advice.
Likewise, nothing on this site is legal advice. Laws on insurance requirements, lending, debt collection, and taxes vary by state and change often. For legal questions, consult a licensed attorney in your state.
4. Rates change, and yours will be different
Our core promise is state-level numbers, and we stand behind how we collect them. But two things are always true about any rate you see here:
- Rates change constantly. Insurers file new rates with state regulators throughout the year. Card issuers reprice APRs when the Federal Reserve moves. Banks adjust savings yields weekly. Every money page shows an “Updated on” date, and our methodology page explains the update cadence, but a number that was accurate on its update date can still lag today’s market.
- Published averages are not personal quotes. The figures we show are averages or representative profiles for a state. Your own rate depends on your credit score, age, driving record, claims history, income, ZIP code, and dozens of underwriting factors we cannot see. Treat our numbers as a benchmark for spotting a good or bad offer, not as the price you will be offered.
Before you sign anything, confirm the current rate, fee schedule, and terms directly with the insurer, issuer, lender, or bank. That confirmation step is the whole point of comparison shopping, and no comparison site (ours included) can replace it.
5. Third-party products, offers, and availability
The financial products we cover are created, priced, and controlled by third parties: insurers, banks, card issuers, lenders, and brokerages. We do not control their offers and cannot guarantee that any product, rate, bonus, or feature we describe is still available, or available in your state. Providers can change or withdraw offers without notice, and product terms sometimes differ by state even from the same company.
Mentioning a company on DollarVisor is not an endorsement of that company, and a high position in one of our rankings is not a guarantee that the product will perform well for you. We rank products against our published criteria; we cannot vouch for any provider’s future service, solvency, or claim handling. If you apply for a product, your agreement is with that provider, under that provider’s terms: check them yourself before applying.
6. Calculators and tools are estimates
Our calculators (mortgage, loan payoff, compound interest, debt snowball, and the rest) produce estimates based on the numbers you enter and simplified math we document alongside each tool. They ignore factors a real lender or insurer will price in, such as fees, taxes, insurance escrow, compounding conventions, and underwriting adjustments. Calculator results are for planning and comparison only. They are not offers, quotes, or promises of what any product will cost, and we accept no responsibility for decisions based on calculator output alone.
7. Investing involves risk
Content in our investing section describes markets, account types, and platforms in general terms. All investing involves risk, including the possible loss of the money you put in. Past performance (of any market, fund, or strategy we mention) never guarantees future results. Deposit products like savings accounts and CDs carry their own limits: FDIC and NCUA insurance protect deposits only up to the legal coverage caps, and yields can fall after you open an account. Cryptocurrency is volatile, largely uninsured, and can lose most or all of its value. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy or sell any security or digital asset.
8. Editorial independence and advertising
DollarVisor earns money from display advertising served by Google AdSense. That revenue model shapes this disclaimer in one important way. Because we are paid for ad space, not for clicks to financial products, no company can pay for placement in our rankings, and no ranking on this site is sponsored. Advertisers do not see, review, or influence our content before it is published, and our writers do not know which ads will appear beside their work. The ads on a page are chosen by Google’s systems, not by us, and an ad appearing on DollarVisor is not our endorsement of whatever it promotes.
The full picture of our revenue and our independence rules lives on our Advertising Disclosure and Editorial Policy pages.
9. External links and sources
Our guides cite primary sources (state insurance departments, the NAIC, CFPB, FDIC, FRED, IRS, and other official bodies) because our methodology requires it. We also link to providers’ own sites so you can verify terms. We do not control any external site, we are not responsible for its content or accuracy, and a link is not an endorsement. Government data itself carries publication lags: a regulator’s most recent filing may be months old by the time it is published, and we note the data vintage in our tables where it matters.
10. Errors, omissions, and corrections
We check our numbers against the sources named on our methodology page before publishing, and every page is reviewed by someone other than its writer under our editorial policy. Even so, we cannot warrant that every figure on the site is complete, current, or error-free at the moment you read it. If you spot a mistake, tell us through our contact page: corrections are logged, fixed on the page, and noted with the correction date.
11. Limitation of liability
All content on DollarVisor is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent allowed by law, DollarVisor and its team are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site, reliance on its content, or any product decision you make after reading it. That includes financial loss. Your use of the site is at your own risk. The complete liability terms, including the governing law that applies, are in our Terms of Use.
12. Changes to this disclaimer
We may update this disclaimer as the site, the law, or our revenue model changes. Updates take effect when posted here, with a revised effective date at the top and bottom of the page. Material changes will also be flagged on the homepage, the same way we handle privacy policy changes.
13. Questions
If anything on this page is unclear, or you are unsure whether a piece of our content applies to your situation, email contact@dollarvisor.com or use our contact page. We answer within 3 business days. And when in doubt about a real money decision, the right move is always the same: verify with the provider and talk to a licensed professional in your state.
