Legal

DollarVisor Terms of Use

The terms you agree to by using DollarVisor.

TL;DR: The DollarVisor terms of use in one paragraph: the site is free to read, our content is informational (not financial, legal, or insurance advice) and everything we publish belongs to us. You can read, share links, and quote short passages with credit. You can’t copy whole pages, scrape the site, or use our content to train commercial AI models without permission. We work hard to keep our numbers right, but rates change daily and vary by state and profile, so we provide the site “as is” and cap our liability. Disputes are governed by Texas law. Using dollarvisor.com means you accept these terms.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and DollarVisor (“we,” “us,” “our”), the operator of dollarvisor.com. By visiting the site, reading our guides, using our calculators, or contacting us, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

These Terms work together with three other pages: our Privacy Policy (how data is handled), our Disclaimer (the limits of our content), and our Advertising Disclosure (how the site makes money). All four apply whenever you use dollarvisor.com.

2. What DollarVisor is

DollarVisor is a US personal finance comparison site. We publish state-level rate data, comparison tables, calculators, and plain-English guides across four areas: insurance, credit cards, loans, and investing. How we build our numbers and rankings is documented on our methodology page. Companies cannot pay for placement in our rankings, and we show the math behind every recommendation.

We are a publisher. We are not a bank, insurer, lender, broker-dealer, investment adviser, or insurance producer, and we do not sell, quote, or arrange any financial product. We never ask for your Social Security number, account numbers, or payment details, and no page on this site is an application for any product.

3. Who may use the site

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use dollarvisor.com. The site is written for a US audience and describes US financial products, US regulators, and US state-level data. If you visit from outside the United States, you are welcome to read, but the content may not apply where you live and you are responsible for complying with your local laws.

4. Our content is information, not advice

Everything on dollarvisor.com (articles, rate tables, rankings, calculator results, FAQ answers) is general information and editorial opinion. It is not financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting, or insurance advice, and it is not a recommendation that any product is right for your situation. Reading this site does not create any adviser, fiduciary, agent, or client relationship between you and us.

  • Rates change and vary. Premiums, APRs, APYs, and fees change daily and depend on your state, credit profile, age, and other personal factors. The figure on our page is a documented data point, not a quote or an offer.
  • Verify before you sign. Always confirm current rates, terms, and eligibility directly with the provider before buying any financial product.
  • Get personal advice from a professional. For decisions that depend on your specific situation, consult a licensed professional: a fee-only financial planner, CPA, attorney, or licensed insurance agent in your state.

Our full Disclaimer expands on all of this.

5. Intellectual property and your license to use our content

All content on dollarvisor.com (text, data tables, rankings, calculators, graphics, page designs, and the DollarVisor name and logo) is owned by DollarVisor or its licensors and is protected by US copyright and trademark law. Public-domain government data we cite (from sources like state insurance departments, the CFPB, FDIC, or FRED) remains public domain, but our selection, arrangement, analysis, and presentation of that data is ours.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to view the site and to use our content as follows:

  • You may read, print, and save pages for your own personal, non-commercial use.
  • You may quote short passages (up to roughly 100 words or one table row) in articles, papers, or posts, with credit to DollarVisor and a link to the source page.
  • You may link to any page on this site. We encourage it.
  • You may not republish full articles or full tables, on any site or in any format, without our prior written permission.
  • You may not sell, rent, sublicense, or commercially redistribute our content.
  • You may not use our content to train, fine-tune, or ground commercial machine-learning or AI models without a written license from us.
  • You may not remove author names, “updated on” dates, or source citations from anything you quote.
  • You may not use the DollarVisor name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you, your product, or your content.

To request permission beyond this license, email contact@dollarvisor.com with the URL you want to use and where it will appear. We usually answer within 3 business days.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use dollarvisor.com only for lawful purposes. When using the site, you must not:

  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest content at scale with bots, scripts, or automated tools, except for search engines honoring our robots.txt;
  • Probe, disrupt, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its servers, or its security measures;
  • Frame or mirror any part of the site, or hotlink our images or data files from another site;
  • Interfere with the advertising served on the site, including generating fraudulent ad clicks or impressions;
  • Misrepresent your affiliation with DollarVisor, or claim we endorsed or wrote something we did not;
  • Use the site to transmit malware, spam, or unlawful content, including through our contact form;
  • Circumvent any technical measure we use to protect the site or its content.

We may block, throttle, or ban any visitor, IP range, or tool that violates this section, without notice.

7. Messages, corrections, and feedback you send us

If you send us a message through our contact page or by email (a question, a correction, a suggestion) you keep ownership of what you wrote. You also grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use it to run and improve the site. That includes fixing errors you report (our corrections process is described in our editorial policy) and quoting reader questions, without your name, in our FAQ content. Do not send us confidential information, account numbers, or anyone else’s personal data. How we handle contact-form data is covered in our Privacy Policy.

8. Calculators

Our calculators run standard financial formulas on the numbers you type in. Results are estimates for education and comparison only. They do not account for every fee, tax rule, or lender-specific term, and they are not offers, quotes, or advice. Actual figures from a provider will differ. We publish the formula behind each calculator on its page (that is part of our show-the-math promise) so you can check the work yourself.

9. Third-party sites and products

Our guides link to third parties: government agencies, regulators, insurers, banks, card issuers, and brokerages. We link so you can verify our numbers at the source and act on what you read. We do not control those sites, and linking is not an endorsement of a company or a guarantee of its current rates. Any product you buy from a third party is a contract between you and that company, on their terms: read them. We are not a party to, and have no liability for, any transaction between you and a provider you found through this site.

10. Advertising

DollarVisor is funded by display advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertisers buy space through Google’s network; they never buy placement in our rankings, and ads are labeled as ads. Ad content comes from Google and its advertisers, not from our editorial team, and an ad appearing here is not our endorsement. The full picture (including our no-sponsored-content policy) is on our Advertising Disclosure page, and the data side of advertising is covered in our Privacy Policy.

11. Accuracy, updates, and availability

We work from primary sources, date every data table, and update money pages on the cadence published in our methodology. Even so, we cannot promise that every figure is current or error-free at the moment you read it: rates move faster than any publisher. We may change, move, or remove content at any time, and we may suspend the site for maintenance or reasons beyond our control. If you spot an error, please tell us at contact@dollarvisor.com; corrections are logged per our editorial policy.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, dollarvisor.com and all of its content, calculators, and services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the site is free of viruses or other harmful components. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DollarVisor and its owners, editors, authors, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages (including lost money, lost savings, lost profits, or lost data) arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its content. That applies even if we were advised such damages were possible. This includes damages from financial decisions made in reliance on our content, from errors or omissions in our data, from third-party products or sites, or from interruptions to the site.

If we are found liable despite the paragraph above, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims is capped at one hundred US dollars ($100). The site is free to use, and this cap reflects that. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law allows.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DollarVisor and its owners, editors, authors, and contributors from any claims, damages, losses, and reasonable attorneys’ fees arising out of your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the site or its content, or your violation of any law or third-party right while using the site.

We respect the intellectual property of others and expect the same in return. If you believe content on dollarvisor.com infringes your copyright, send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) to contact@dollarvisor.com with the subject line “DMCA notice.” Include: (1) identification of the copyrighted work; (2) the URL of the material you believe infringes it; (3) your name, address, email, and phone number; (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and (6) your physical or electronic signature. We respond to complete notices promptly, and we may remove or disable access to the material while we review. Misrepresenting infringement in a DMCA notice can make you liable for damages under Section 512(f).

16. Termination

You may stop using the site at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access (including by technical means such as IP blocks) at any time, without notice, if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe your use harms the site, our readers, or our advertising integrity. Sections 5, 12, 13, 14, and 17 survive any termination.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of them or your use of dollarvisor.com, are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Texas have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute, and you consent to venue there.

Before filing any claim, you agree to try informal resolution first: email contact@dollarvisor.com with a description of the issue, and give us 30 days to work it out with you. Most problems (a wrong number, a copyright question, a takedown request) get fixed far faster than any lawsuit would. To the extent permitted by law, any claim must be brought within one year of the events giving rise to it, and only in your individual capacity, not as part of a class action.

18. General provisions

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, plus the Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and Advertising Disclosure, are the entire agreement between you and us about the site.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect, and the unenforceable part is replaced with an enforceable term that comes closest to the original intent.
  • No waiver. If we don’t enforce a provision, that is not a waiver: we can enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a sale, merger, or reorganization of the site.
  • Headings. Section headings are for readability only and have no legal effect.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the site grows or the law changes. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date at the top and bottom of this page. For material changes, we will post a notice on the homepage for at least 30 days. Continuing to use the site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

20. Contact

Questions about these Terms (permissions, DMCA notices, or anything else) go to contact@dollarvisor.com or our contact page. We answer within 3 business days.
